Insurance Dealer was intrigued to make contact with a firm called Bright Move Media today purely by chance. This brought up the uneasy question of advertising in the modern arena whilst trying to retain tradition, in this case the original look of London’s iconic black taxis. Sure, some tourists expect, nay, demand a stereotypical advertisement wrapped free black cab but the power of the media worldwide makes “Vodafone wrapped cabs” quote normal globally. The new Routemaster, for example, clearly demonstrates that embracing modern standards and design need not necessarily detract from tradition.
Bright Move have not re-invented the wheel, as even its CEO Piers Memmary would admit but they have taken a concept seen in many cities, notably New York and given the current cab a modern, sleek interactive form of advertising on its roof whilst not impinging its iconic look – merely developing it. Their perseverance must be admired as it is guaranteed that they must’ve met with stiff opposition to push their idea through.
Cheap public hire policies will remain for good drivers irrespective of the adverts on their vehicles – Taxi fleet operators may want to consider and ensure that advertising mediums are covered in the event of an accident. Yearly cheap Minicab policies would also benefit from a review.
